Kate Colby (1967-2022) loved animals: horses, dogs, and cats
Visitation and service will be Saturday afternoon.
Katherine "Kate" Anne Colby of Roscoe died after a short illness on April 19, 2022, the day before her 55th birthday. She graduated from Hononegah High School in 1985, and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Judson University. Following graduation from Judson, she was appointed Director of Social Services at Park Place of Belvidere.
Kate was born April 20, 1967 in Rockford, the daughter of Richard A. and GeorgiaLee (Doble) Colby. When she was young, she participated in the Owen Blue Bonnets 4-H Club, and Brownies and Girl Scouts in Rockton. Kate was also an avid animal lover, enjoying training and riding Arabian horses. She also enjoyed the companionship of black and chocolate Labradors and many cats.

Since the sixth grade, Kate was a close friend of Ann (Stocker) Vatch. She enjoyed horseback riding with Shannon Nelson. Kate also had a close, sisterly relationship with her cousin Staci (Pixler) Almond.
Kate was predeceased by her dear friend and partner, Natalia Baragan. Surviving are her parents, Richard A. and GeorgiaLee (Doble) Colby, her brothers, Mark and his wife Linda of Honolulu and Matthew and his wife Lori of Baraboo; a niece; five nephews; a grand-niece and two grand-nephews.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. followed by a service of remembrance at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Rockton United Methodist Church, 102 West Chapel St., Rockton. Burial will be private.
