Judy Hines liked to plan vacations
Judy Hines (1941-2023)

Judith Claire (Dayton) Hines, 81, beloved & cherished, passed away on February 16, 2023, at 1:10 a.m. in the arms of her daughter, Rhonda, after a long battle with health issues. Judy will forever be missed.

Born March 2, 1941 to the adoring Sadie (Brown) & Allyn Dayton, Judy worked at the Chicago Motor Club after graduating in 1959 from East High School. From the mid 1980's on, she was a secretary for landscapers and psychiatrists. She married Ron Hines on June 18, 1960. In 1974, they built their unique home in Roscoe, IL where Judy lived until 2021. Her favorite pastime was getting together with friends and loved ones for any reason. Playing games, going out, hosting get togethers, or chatting on the phone - she was a people person.

Judy enjoyed traveling and planned each summer vacation with creativity and  zest. For her 50th birthday she went to Hawaii. Years later she went on an Alaskan cruise with special cousins. She loved to read, sew, cook, take long drives, and visit unique towns and  restaurants. She was very involved with her church family. The last two decades were predominantly spent with daughter Rhonda - caregiver, best friend,  and  partner in crime, doing everything together. Rhonda's partner, John Peterson, was like a faithful son to her, always there and  helpful.

She was survived by her children: Kimberly Beth (Juan) Pena, Daniel Leigh Hines, Rhonda Kay Powers; sister Georgia (Howard) Elfman; brother David (Chris) Dayton; two sweet grandchildren: Brandi Hines & Ryan Pena; special nephew Kenny Thompson; and many cousins she held dear, including the Hackers, Bryants and Sue Custer. Judy was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her son Barry Allyn Hines.

Services will be held on her birthday, March 2, 2023, at Prince of Peace Church, 2336 Freeport Rd, Rockton. Visitation will be at 4 p.m., funeral at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m.
