Joel Francis Lorr 1940-2026
The former Rockton community member will be remembered with love and affection by all who knew him.
Joel Francis Lorr, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Beaverton, Oregon, on Friday morning, March 27th, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Joel was born on April 19th, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, the eldest of eight children born to Joseph E. Lorr and Evelyn (Pechous) Lorr. He graduated from Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois, in 1958, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University in 1962.
He received an honorable discharge in May in 1963 from the United States Army.
Joel was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Lynne E. (Kempfer) Lorr. He is survived by their three children—Frank, John, and Holly—as well as three grandchildren—Brette, Michelle, and Jack—and two great‑grandchildren, Juniper and Noelle.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Holy Trinity Church, the Veterans Administration, and the many dedicated individuals who supported Joel and his family throughout his final journey home.
Services will be held at Holy Trinity on June 13th at 11:00 a.m. Joel will be laid to rest at Willamette Valley National Cemetery in recognition of his military service.
