Jaimie Cox Motorcycle Rally: "We’re Gonna Ride Again"
On Saturday, August 26, 2023, hundreds of motorcycle riders will converge at the VFW parking lot in Roscoe, IL.
The call is out to motorcycle enthusiasts and supporters of the Jaimie Cox Motorcycle Rally.
At 8:00 a.m on Saturday, August 26, 2023, hundreds of motorcycle riders will converge at the VFW Post 2955 parking lot in Roscoe, IL. A hearty breakfast will be served by members of the post and auxiliary at 11385 2nd St. before the rally gets underway.
UPDATE: The event drew 196 motorcycles and 395 participants.
The kickstand start begins at 10:15 am. Riders will be traveling country roads through Winnebago and Ogle Counties. Each stop has ties to Jaimie Cox. The bikers will end their ride at Crazy Times Pub and Grub, 1520 Glen Forest Dr. in Machesney Park, IL.
The Blue Steel Band will provide musical entertainment.
This is the fifth year for the annual memorial event that honors fallen Rockford Police officer James (Jaimie) Cox who was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 5, 2017.
Every year, since 2019, bikers come together to support the Jaimie Cox Foundation. The foundation is hosting the rally. The not-for-profit organization raises funds through events and donation in support of first responders and underprivileged children. They assist in providing transition for American service members and their families and provide scholarships for higher education opportunities.
BLUE 815 NFP and Roscoe VFW Post 2955 are sponsoring the rally.
Patrol Officer Cox, who would have been 36 years old this month, was a graduate of Hononegah Community High School. Before becoming a police officer, he served in the National Guard, and was deployed to Afghanistan.
