The Hononegah Indians fell to the Guilford Vikings in a second-half turnaround that saw Guilford go from down 7 points at halftime to up 15 points at the final buzzer, playing for the boys basketball regional title on Feb. 27, 2026.

For Hononegah, this is an end to an impressive 20+ win season, which saw them finish 3rd in the NIC-10 with a 14-5 conference record.

This was their third game and third loss to the Vikings, who had their number this year, and was the end of their season, eliminating them from the IHSA playoffs.

Braden Chatman, Guilford’s all-time leading scorer, had 23 points, with most of them coming in the 4th quarter. In particular, he had a huge dunk in the 4th that really closed the book on the game.

Hononegah Wyatt Henson led with 18 points, with Caleb Hart also contributing heavily with 12 points.

Hart had a huge buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of the 1st half that put Hononegah in the driver's seat going into the 2nd half.

Overall, it was an impressive season for the Indians in which their starting lineup of Caleb Hart, Oba Fasalojo, Dante Bell, Damariea Briggs, and Wyatt Henson all had incredible games and played together as a unit.

Coach Tom Schmidt also deserves a ton of credit for his use of defensive coverages, spacing principles, and, most importantly, leadership.

He credits the players a ton for their success and, on multiple occasions, has highlighted each player's unique strengths and contributions.

Hononegah had a successful boys’ basketball season this year, and the culture set by Schmidt is key in setting this program up for success in future years to come.
