Machesney Park, Harlem High School - Friday night saw a battle between opponents who know each other very well: Hononegah and Harlem battle on every field, court, and stage possible in the NIC 10. Friday, the two teams gave us a showcase of will, energy, and toughness that this rivalry expects.

Not a single point was scored in the first three-plus minutes of the game. Once the first bucket went in, the two teams seemed to enjoy the physical struggle of trying to get one up on their opponent. The first quarter saw Hononegah grab an 8-5 lead.

The 2nd quarter reminded me of the Sylvester Stallone movie Over the Top, when it felt like a battle of wills just to get into their offenses. Halftime determined nothing as the score was tied at 22.

The 3rd quarter saw Hononegah take advantage of Harlem's sloppy defense to grab a 35-29 lead.

The 4th quarter saw Hononegah get big plays and big buckets from seemingly every player on the floor. Oba Fasalojo got big buckets and rebounds to give the Indians the upper hand midway through the 4th quarter, and they finished off the Huskies 54-42.

With the win the Indians improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in NIC 10 play.

JV team also got a 57-54 victory in overtime against Harlem.
