After Friday's games, the Hononegah girls bowling team is in 4th place in the IHSA state tournament, their first appearance there since 1999.  With an average of 189.1 points each, their team score was 5,674 pins, 245 points behind first place Lockport Township.  Among individual contenders, senior Kyley Olson was in 11th place, with a score of 1,246 after six games. The team bowls for the finals on Saturday at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford.


On Saturday,  the NIC-10 champion boys swim and dive team heads for the IHSA Sectional meet at Byron High School, Feb. 19, 2002. Diving begins at 9:00 a.m. and swimming at 1:30 p.m.


Hononegah is hosting a girls indoor track meet on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.


The girls basketball team became 4A regional champions Thursday night as Hononegah edged past Auburn 35-33. The young women play South Elgin in the IHSA DeKalb Sectionals semi-finals at DeKalb High School next Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 6:00 p.m.

Bryce Goodwine's college signing was held Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 in Hononegah's Metal Gym. Bryce committed to play baseball at University of Indianapolis, but he stands out in several sports, including baseball and football.  He told WTVO, “I hate losing. I can’t stand losing... It’s something that ever since growing up I could not handle it and I mean, the harder you work the less likely you are to lose. So that always pushes me to work harder.” He said on Twitter, "Huge thanks to Coach Ready and Coach Ford for giving me this incredible opportunity and thank you to everybody that has helped me throughout this journey. God is good!!"


The Math Team will be hosting its regional competition on Saturday, February 26 at 9:00 a.m. at Hononegah, in room 2110.


The Academic Challenge team competed at the regional competition at Rock Valley College on Friday, February 18. Sectionals will be held online between Mar. 1-11 by Northern Illinois University, followed by state competition, also online, sponsored by Eastern Illinois University.


The Hononegah boys varsity basketball team are preparing for their regional semi-final against Guilford at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, at Jefferson High School. The winner will play a championship game on Friday, also at Jefferson, against the winner of Saturday's game between Harlem and Jefferson.


The freshmen boys basketball team will be playing in a tournament at Boylan on Saturday.
