Fall events coming to Stateline
History abounds in Rockton, Illinois.

Hononegah Community High School's Class of 1988 invites alumni to reunite, with two chances to gather.

Former classmates will have an opportunity to meet at 10 a.m. on Sept. 23 for a tour of HCHS. All are asked to meet at the main entrance to the school.

Finish out the reunion rounds with a visit to Louie's Tap House in Roscoe on Saturday evening, Sept. 23 where a buffet meal is being served at a cost of $25 per person.

Save a life by giving blood. Roscoe Lions Club invites all who are eligible to donate at Roscoe United Methodist Church. This blood drive is being held on Thursday, Sept. 21 in conjunction with Rock River Valley Blood Center.  All types are needed and walk-ins are welcome. Please bring your ID and eat and drink enough before donating.


Roscoe Township Historical Society is having an antique sale on Sept. 23 and 24 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Roscoe Township Community Center at Founders Park, 4562 Hononegah Rd., Roscoe, IL. All proceeds will help to fund the continued restoration of the 1840s Cross Homestead. The Cross home will also be open for tours during the antique sale.


Come to Rockton Township Historical Society on Monday evening, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. to learn about the “History of a Family Farm- Changes Over the Years,” as Roger and Judy Bates take guests on a journey of the history of the Bates Farm since it began in 1857.


Hononegah Woman's Club is welcoming this year's Campership winners on Thursday evening, Sept. 28 at the Old Stone Church at 6:30 p.m. Members will hear from young recipients who went to camp for music, the arts, Scouts or other areas of interest.

The regular monthly club meeting and refreshments will follow.


North Suburban Library District is having a book sale, at both the Roscoe and Loves Park locations, with a special price of get one, get two free. The sale goes on during all the hours the library is open and ends on Sept. 30.


On September 30, St. Andrew Lutheran Church is hosting their second annual Common Ground Pumpkin Festival. Fun runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.


Starting off the month of October is the Last Roar Car Show. Bring your classic vehicle, or interesting vehicles, to Settlers Park on Sunday, Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.


Macktown Living History recently completed an Archaeology Sunday where visitors could help in the washing, sorting and identification of artifacts. Dr. Rochelle Lurie shared about the historic and prehistoric excavations that have been done right here at Macktown.

The next event that is planned is on cider making. Get hands-on training from a historic reenactor and cider-maker on Sunday, Oct. 8 starting at 2 p.m.


On Friday the 13th of October, Rockton Historic Preservation Commission invites all who dare to a Rockton Township Cemetery Graveyard Tour. Hear tales of old from 5-7 p.m.


Roscoe VFW's Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a craft show on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. Bring your family and friends to find the best of handmade items from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Then take a break from browsing or buying, and try some walking tacos. Frenchman's Frolic at Macktown Living History allows history lovers to learn about a pre-1850's rendezvous camp. Blacksmithing, black powder shooting, rope making, historic games and contests, period crafts, educational workshops, the history of dueling plus much more is coming to Macktown Forest Preserve on Oct. 21-22 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.


In other news, the Village of Rockton recently appointed Jamin Unger to the Planning Commission.
