Oil and gas prices continued their decline last week with regular gas dropping to $3.93 per gallon nationwide on Thursday, according to AAA. Crude is trading at roughly $91 per barrel. Gas prices have fallen every day for the last nine weeks and crude oil has fallen by 30% in roughly that same period.

Prices could decline further if Iran agrees to the restoration of a 2015 nuclear deal. The deal would, among other things, lift sanctions against Iran's energy sector, infusing the global oil market with 1 million more barrels of crude a day.

Right now in Roscoe, you'll find the lowest prices for regular gasoline at the truck stops on Rockton Road and I-90. As of Sunday night, the price is $3.59 per gallon at Thorntons, 13555 Willowbrook Road,  Speedway, 5951 East Rockton Road, and at Walmart, 4781 E Rockton Road.  However, Love's, 13477 Quality Drive, is only a penny more, and they have a dog park.

Everywhere else in Roscoe, gas seems to be $3.99 per gallon, or 40 cents more. In Decatur, IL, it gets as low as $3.49.  And in Wisconsin... well, we don't live in Wisconsin ($3.45 in Janesville and in some stations in Beloit.) Prices in Illinois are the highest in the Midwest. We haven't reached the 2008 record, adjusted for inflation, which is $5.33 per gallon.

Stacker compiled statistics on gas prices in Rockford, IL metro area using data from AAA. Gas prices are current as of Aug. 19, 2022. State gas tax data is from World Population Review. Connecticut and New York have temporarily suspended gas taxes to help consumers while the cost of gas has increased.
