Barbara Pizzolato was passionate about helping others

Barbara Pizzolato (1948-2024)

Barbara K. Pizzolato was very active in the South Beloit community. She was a president of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, a board member of the Retired Senior Citizens, and a 40-year volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Barbara was also a Special Olympics and Red Cross volunteer.

Barbara was a dedicated member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Beloit, where she was lector for over 20 years. She was a member of the Marian Guild and a CCD teacher

She was formerly employed by United Way of Beloit, WI from 1983 to 1997. She retired from AMS in Madison, WI in 2010.

Barbara passed away in her home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, February 8, 22024.

Barbara was born on March 4, 1948, at Beloit Memorial Hospital, the daughter of Wilson and Irene (Wecker) Scott. She was a 1966 graduate of Beloit Catholic High School, Beloit, WI. She later received her degree from Prospect Hall Secretary School in Milwaukee, WI.

She married Stephen Pizzolato on June 19, 1971, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Beloit. The couple were married for over 52 years. They were parents of two children, Patty and John.

Barbara enjoyed traveling, baking and working out at NorthPointe Wellness. She was an avid reader, card player, and member of several book clubs throughout her life. Her greatest joy was being with family whenever possible.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Pizzolato of South Beloit, IL; children, Patty (Todd) Swicegood, and John Pizzolato (Roswell Hamrick); grandchildren, Chrissy Swicegood and Emma Swicegood; sisters, Betty McCormick, Mary Lou (Bob) Sersch, and Carol (Steve) Golbuff; brothers, Lee (Sherry) Scott and Danny (Jeannie) Scott; several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents; mother-in-law Virginia D “Jennie” Segreto Swetland, father-in-laws Michangelo Pizzolato and Al Swetland; brother Larry "Bear" Scott; and brothers-in-law John Pizzolato and Mike McCormick.

A prayer service and a Celebration of Life dinner will be held from 5 - 8 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2024 at La Casa Grande, 618 4th St., Beloit, WI.

Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
