Another pop-up COVID testing site opened Tuesday near Schnuck's, but almost everything is different except the location. It is called Quality Covid Control LLC, and though it's still owned by Matt Kosiarski, he stresses that it's no longer associated in any way with the Center for COVID Control or its lab.
While you're waiting for your rapid test (there was no wait Tuesday), you can read the framed newspaper clipping about Matt's award for saving a woman from a burning vehicle. Matt says they processing rapid tests themselves, within 30 minutes, at no cost to you (your insurance should cover the cost).
Quality Covid Control is not offering PCR tests or using an outside lab right now because Matt hasn't found one he feels comfortable with. The system is brand new too. You can still register for a test by aiming your phone camera at a QR code, but after that, the system remembers your phone number. So firefighters who need frequent tests won't have to re-register each time.
Why were the old signs still on Hononegah Road until this week? Because Matt forgot they were still there, and after we informed him, he ran out to remove them. He's just ordered new signs which should arrive by the end of next week.
