Looking for something to brighten your day? Drive or walk down Main Street in Rockton and take a look at the gigantic brightly colored mural painted on the west side of the Rockton Food and Spirits, 121 W. Main St. in Rockton.
The gorgeous spectacle of sunflowers painted on the exterior of the building was created by well-known Rockford artist, Lisa Frost.
Rockton Planning and Development Administrator Trisha Diduch said Rockton is a member of the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB). RACVB invited Rockton to participate in the Cre8IV Mural Project which was kicked off about three years ago. There are currently nine murals at various locations in Rockford. The sunflower mural is the first in the Stateline area.
Diduch said the artscape has added vibrancy to Main Street. “We are currently looking for sponsors and appropriate locations for more murals around the Village.”
