In a national election in which 51% of voters chose to return Donald J. Trump to power, residents of Roscoe, South Beloit, and Rockton voted in high numbers. Roscoe Township precincts had a 77% voter turnout, while Rockton Township precincts had a 76% turnout. South Beloit is mostly divided between Roscoe and Rockton Townships - there is no South Beloit Township.
According to unofficial results, Rockton voters chose Donald Trump 55% to 42%, while Roscoe voters voted for Trump 57% to 41%. The turnout in Roscoe precinct 3 reached 85%, though only 54% voted for Trump. At the March 2024 primary. turnout was as low as 10% in some Stateline precincts.
Apart from the presidential race, most posts in northern Winnebago County were uncontested and the incumbents, mostly Republican, were reelected. Republican Congressman Darin LaHood had only a write-in opponent, Scott Summers, in his reelection bid for Illinois District 16. State Representative John Cabello was also reelected to the 90th District. Also reelected: Winnebago County Board Chairman Joseph Chiarelli, County Clerk Tom Klein, State's Attorney J. Hanley, Coroner Jennifer Muraski. County Auditor Bill Crowley was the lone Democrat, also unopposed.
Ray Thompson was officially elected to Winnebago County Board District 3, which covers part of Roscoe, after winning the March primary by eight votes. Jim Webster was reelected to Winnebago County Board District 2, covering most of Rockton.
A proposition was approved to extend a half-percent county sales tax for mental health programs.
