Hononegah Indians Senior Running Back Kurt Smith is tackled to the ground by the Willowbrook Warriors in the 40-21 loss in the opening round of the IHSA 7A Playoffs from Kelsey Field in Rockton, IL

Friday night at Kelsey Field saw the end to the 2024 high school football season for the Hononegah Indians. They came up short against Willowbrook 40-21.

With the loss for the Indians on Nov. 1, 2024, the season ends with its highs, lows, injuries, questions with no answers yet, and the high school football playing careers for 28 seniors and their families. I’ve heard it said and I tend to agree -nothing and everything hurts at the end of a high school football season.

On Friday, the Hononegah Indians saw a team thoroughly walk into Kelsey Field and take the game away from them. The Willowbrook Warriors were ready and willing to take on the challenge that was the 2024 NIC-10 Champion Hononegah Indians. They had all the ANSWERS, they made every BLOCK, RUN, CATCH, and TACKLE needed to stop the 2024 Hononegah Indians.

For the game and its breakdown, I’d like to thank Steve Sayles and the Hononegah Indians' stats team.

I’d like to thank the entire Hononegah athletic department and football coaching staff for the information and time they gave me all season long.
