Hononegah Indians take on Rockford East: NIC-10 Football Week 6.

The Hononegah Indians are 4-1 on the season and tied with Boylan for 2nd place in the NIC-10 conference race.

The Indians have dominated every single team they have stepped on the field with. The defense has overwhelmed the schedule of opponents by an average victory of 41-5. The defense hasn’t allowed a score in 10 quarters (including two straight shutouts).

The Rockford East squad comes in 3-2 with two straight wins (Belvidere and Rockford Auburn). Looking at highlights and stats for Rockford East, they have a strong running game that is led by seniors Zy’Air Lee and Tyshaun Whittie who each has over 400 yards. Coach Gary Griffin’s teams are known for tough hard-nosed ball where they want to get into a street fight and be more physical.

Expect the Hononegah Indians to get up early and take the Rockford East E-Rabs out of their game plan of running the ball and controlling the clock. Kurt Smith and Brock Anderson continue to lead the running game for the Indians who run over, through and around defenses. So far this season the offense hasn’t needed a passing game to get any wins.

Game time from Kelsey Field – Friday night, Oct. 4, 2024, is set for 7 p.m. It is also Youth Football Feeder night as players, coaches and parents from the RRL Jr Indians Football & Cheer program and the Macktown Warriors Football program will be recognized at the game. The programs will be introduced between the sophomore and varsity games.

If you can’t watch Hononegah LIVE, check out the Big Radio app and listen to the tones of Andy Gannon as he brings you every play and sound of the Hononegah Indians football team. The game can be viewed on the NFHS Network (SEARCH Hononegah, IL) with a paid subscription.
