The 3-0 Indians has boat-raced everyone so far in the 2024 football season. With last week’s 38-14 drubbing of Harlem, Hononegah has sent a clear and loud signal to the NIC-10: the conference championship still runs through Hononegah.
This week’s challenger is the Guilford Vikings. The 2-1 Vikings have won their last two with a big win 47-0 over Rockford Auburn last Friday night, Sept. 12, 2024.
Right now, Guildford head coach Anthony Capriotti and his staff have found something special with 6’1” sophomore QB #9 Greyson Weber (28-44 282 yards with four TDs and three ints). His favorite target seems to be 6’2” junior wideout #11 Messiah Tilson (five catches 53 yards). In the running game they have a two-headed monster in sophomore #15 Xavias Primus and junior # 7 Chris Porter. Combined, they have gotten 359 yards and crossed the goal line six times.
The Hononegah Indians are at home this week for Homecoming. This can hurt some teams and cause slow starts, but with the leadership of this year’s team, I would not expect this to be the case, as many of the leaders have been a part of the Homecoming craziness for a few years on the varsity level.
If you can’t make it out to this week’s Homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, you can always listen to Andy Gannon on the Big Radio app. Kickoff Friday night is scheduled for 7 pm.
