At a burning home on Swanson Rd. in Roscoe, the first units to arrive, about 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024, found "heavy smoke and fire conditions throughout the house," according to Harlem Roscoe Fire Deputy Chief Kevin Briggs. When he arrived and took command, he requested a MABAS alarm to send for more units. They eventually had to go to a Second Alarm. The fire was east of Swanson Park. Deputy Chief Briggs says, "We had problems with getting the gas turned off. There was no one home at the time of the fire and there were also no injuries to firefighters. Thanks to all the MABAS Fire Companies that showed up to help." Briggs says the house is a total loss and the cause is being investigated. Photos by Photographer Sheryl Drost - more on Facebook.
