A 2023 Hononegah graduate was killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Caledonia in Boone County. Jacob Torgeson of Roscoe was 18 years old.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office responded at 6:27 a.m. along with Boone County Fire District #3 Fire, but Torgeson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation shows that Torgeson was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound near the 1900 block of Hunter Road, east of Caledonia Road, early Monday morning, September 11, 2023.  According to a statement from the Sheriff's Office, "The vehicle left the roadway on the south side of the road, crossed over the roadway into the ditch on the north side, and overturned. "  The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Boone County Coroner's Office.

Torgeson studied history at Rock Valley College and worked on the after-school staff of Kinnikinnick Kids Care at Ledgewood School. Our reporter Alycia Dioneda Schneedle, whose family was close to him, will publish a tribute in the next few days.
