James Riihl was a fine Catholic gentleman

Jim Riihl (1934-2023)

James H. Riihl of Roscoe was born in St. James, MN on December 9, 1934, to parents, Kenneth and Regina (Huss) Riihl. He went to St. James Senior High School and studied at Nashotah House.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1955. James was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park. He retired from Beloit Corporation.

James married Marlys E. Grondahl on June 15, 1957. The couple were parents of two children.

James passed away peacefully, July 13, 2023, at the age of 88.

He is survived by his children, Iacolyn (Andy) Geerts and Gregory (Sherry) Riihl; grandchildren, Joey (Xuan) Riihl, Katie (Joey) Aronson, and Kevin Geerts; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Logan Riihl, Benjamin and Elizabeth Aronson, and Shelby Riihl.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Regina Riihl; wife, Marlys E. Riihl; siblings, Charles Riihl, Harriet Melheim, and Corrine Gratwit.

A funeral mass for James will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Monsignor Steve Knox, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave. Loves Park, IL 61111.
