Three new officers join the Roscoe Police Department

After three new trustees were sworn in at the May 2, 2023 Village of Roscoe board meeting, new Village President Carol Gustafson introduced Police Chief Sam Hawley to swear in three new Roscoe Police officers. 

Greg Yalden began his career as a Winnebago County Sheriff's deputy for seven years.  After that, he served on the Rockford Police force for eighteen years, where he was promoted from Detective to Sergeant in 2018. He is a graduate of Boylan High School and Illinois State University. He lives with his family in the Roscoe/Rockton area.

Brian Freeman was previously a probation officer for the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office. He has earned several bachelors degrees from Liberty University and is working on his master's degree now. He and his family also live in the Roscoe/Rockton area.

Ania Podgorny is a native of Rockford. She also graduated from Boylan High School and has a bachelors degree from St. Ambrose University. Chief Sam Hawley said, "Although this is her first job in law enforcement, she has wanted to be a police officer since high school."
