Strong spirits: questions

Did you ever notice how Jesus often met questions with a question? Did you ever notice how often he prefaced a teaching by saying, "What do you think?"

Jesus was the greatest teacher that ever lived, and he never tried to force his lessons down anyone's throat. He knew that people learn best and retain most what they discover for themselves.

The Church is often about giving answers. Jesus was more about raising questions. I believe he wants everyone to discover for themselves that he is what they are looking for, and that he holds the answers to the questions they have.

God is not offended by your questions. He welcomes them. He doesn't expect you to have all the answers. Only he does.

"Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you." Jesus talking to his followers (Matthew 7:7)

"You will seek me and you will find me when you seek me with all your heart" God speaking through the prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah 29:13)

Ask those questions! Have a great week!
