Patsy Carlton will be remembered for her sense of humor, her quick wit, and compassionate spirit

Patsy Carlton (1931-2023)

On Tuesday April 25, 2023, Patsy Jean Carlton, 92, of Roscoe, Illinois, passed peacefully at her home.

Patsy was born on July 16, 1931, to Charles and Agnes Wells of Pocahontas, Arkansas. Patsy married Billy Joe Carlton on November 11, 1950 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. They raised four children: Diane, Paula, Tim and Kimberly. The family moved to Rockford, IL, in 1960. Patsy and Billy Joe were married for 63 years before his passing in 2016.

Patsy worked for American Chicle Company and Dasco Tool in Rockford before retiring. Patsy enjoyed traveling to and from Arkansas and Arizona. Patsy loved crafting and painting ceramics. Patsy also loved spending time with her family at reunions. Patsy was always excited to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Patsy will be remembered for her sense of humor, her quick wit, and compassionate spirit. Patsy was a member of First Baptist Church of Machesney Park.

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Carlton and one grandson, Adam Bergstadt.

Survivors include; four children: Diane (Garth) Morgan of Rockford, IL, Paula (Francisco) Rodriguez of Morrison, IL, Tim Carlton of Winnebago, IL, and Kimberly Carlton of Roscoe, IL; nine grandchildren: Josh (Angel) Morgan of Stockton, IL, Danielle (Chris) Brown of Roscoe, IL, Jeremy (Katie) Rodriguez of Rio Rancho, NM, Jason (Laura) Rodriguez of Rock Falls, IL, Justin (Patty) Rodriguez of Rapid City, IL, Jamie (Katie) Rodriguez of Morrison, IL, Christopher Fryjoff of Machesney Park, IL, Jaqueline Bergstadt of Machesney Park, IL, Gina (Jarret) Rose of Winnebago, IL, and Jared (Amber) Carlton of Highland. IN. Patsy also had 21 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Patsy was held Saturday, Apr. 29, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home in Machesney Park, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m.

Patsy was laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115-2277.
