Give thanks to your coaches today! National Coaches Day Oct 6

Image

National Coaching Day is October 6.

In September of 1972, former President Richard Nixon signed a proclamation creating National Coaches Day. According to Proclamation 4157-Sept. 19, 1972, the day was created to give thanks to the coaches at all levels of sports who provide guidance and direction for athletes.

We as sports fans and parents sometimes get caught up in the wins/losses of our teams. However, sports are so much more than that. We have all heard and seen this from so many. As I get older, I go back to what lessons I was taught by my coaches and that I use to this day. I am lucky enough to have been able to say thanks to those men who provided me with direction and guidance.

Today I challenge you to write a letter of thanks, make a phone call, use social media or take five minutes to think about the impact a coach has made on your life.
