Kayann Louise Schafman-Steinmetz, 68, of Rockton, IL passed away peacefully Wednesday September 1, 2021 at home with family and her beloved cat Stella at her side. Kayann was born March 20, 1953, daughter of Leo "Bud" and Dorthy Schafman. She went on her heavenly journey to be with her parents and brother Hank.

Kayann was a master quilter, teacher, lecturer and retreat conductor. The quilt retreats she conducted with her dear friend Kay Montgomery always involved a riotously funny skit with a new theme and much ad-lib. Kayann was a kind, generous, witty person, a lover of all animals.

Over the years, she owned and operated Quilter's Cupboard on State Street, Rockford. Kayann was also a partner in Theodore's Tea Room on Main Street, Rockford.

Kayann is survived by husband Steven, brothers John and Kenneth Schafman; daughter Tracy A. O'Donnell; grandson Justin Graves, as well as sister-in-laws Catherine and Kathleen Schafman and Marilyn Klotz.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday October 23, 2021 in McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd. Rockton, IL.
