CYT brings musical theater summer camp to the Rockford area
The Rockford Chapter of CYT Chicago, which performs several musical shows each year at Hononegah Performing Arts Centre, is excited to bring musical theater summer camp to the Rockford area the week of July 24, 2023. These day camps will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 N Bell School Rd., Rockford, IL. The Chicago chapter is the largest CYT branch in the United States.
Students ages 5-12 will rotate through theater workshops including dance, drama, and voice, play exciting theater games, and make lifelong friends at Disney’s Heroes & Villains, the week’s theme. Camps are designed to create a hands-on theater experience, and are focused on building performance skills, self-confidence, and teamwork in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
On the last day of camp, parents, friends and family watch campers perform the material they have learned. This Friday afternoon showcase is a celebration of the week’s work and gives students a glimpse into the energy and excitement of being part of a full CYT theater production.
Camp staff includes professional local artists, CYT production artistic teams, and theater specialists. These leaders are high energy, experienced, and love working with kids. CYT hires leaders who are great role models for our students, have been background checked, and adhere to our CYT mission and values.
Summer camp will run the week of July 24-28, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day in Rockford, IL. More information on all camps can be found at www.cytchicago.org/camps/
