9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Volunteer tasks include control and removal of bush honeysuckle and garlic mustard or other invasive species, planting/collecting seeds, helping in the greenhouse, planting plugs, general maintenance, bird and mammal monitoring, prescribed burns, and set-up for special events. Enjoy the beauty of the prairies and wetlands while you work.

NLI’s most ambitious restoration to date hosts a complex of habitats and rare species.

NLI provides tools and gloves. Bring your own water. If you plan to stay through lunch, you may want to bring a sack lunch. Dress for the weather. Long sleeves, pants, and sturdy boots are recommended.

This preserve is open to the public on a daily basis by entering at the Wildlife Overlook, 3714 W. Rockton Rd., Rockton, IL. This is also the trail head for the Dianne Nora Nature Trail.

Individuals or groups who wish to participate in volunteer Stewardship Days should contact Zach Grycan, Director of Stewardship, at 920-912-4338, zgrycan@naturalland.org, or Tyler Pellegrini, Restoration Ecologist, 815-970-5012, tpellegrini@naturalland.org, for more information and to confirm participation.
