Transit Development Open House
Wednesday, February 12, 2025, 11:30 or 4:30 p.m., Nature at the Confluence, 306 Dickop Street, South Beloit, IL
In association with Beloit Transit System (BTS) and Stateline Mass Transit District (SMTD), Stateline Area Transportation Study (SLATS) is hosting two come-and-go open houses in Beloit and South Beloit to share project progress, existing conditions analysis, and hear the community’s perspective on transit service performance and opportunities for improvements. These sessions will also seek input on transportation needs and service gaps in the grater Beloit area, including areas in northern Illinois that extend down to the Machesney Park and Rockford area.
An important step in the service planning process is to obtain input from the community regarding the existing system and potential service destinations.

WHAT IS A TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT PLAN? A “transit development plan” (TDP) is a strategic planning study that outlines a public transportation system’s vision for a five-year period. TDPs identify current needs, potential service improvements, and detail a plan to implement changes with a focus on maximizing efficiency and effectiveness of transit operations.
SLATS, BTS, and SMTD have partnered with AECOM to conduct a Transit Development Plan in the greater region of Beloit, WI and Northern Illinois. The goal of the this study is to improve current transit service by identifying service needs and enhancements, such as how to run service more efficiently, enhance regional transit connections, and ultimately better service communities throughout Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.
