The Rockton Fire Protection District is mourning the loss of longtime trustee William “Bill” Campbell, a dedicated public servant who spent 37 years supporting the district and its mission. Campbell, remembered for his steady leadership and commitment to the community, served as a past trustee and played a key role in guiding the department through decades of growth and change.
A public visitation and funeral service will be held Sunday, July 5, at McCorkle Funeral Home, 757 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton. Visitation begins at 2 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. funeral service. A procession to Rockton Township Cemetery will take place afterward.
District officials shared their condolences, noting that Campbell’s service left a lasting impact on the firefighters, staff, and residents he supported. They said simply, “He will be missed.”
