Public Comment Session for Roscoe Police Reaccreditation
Wed May 14, 2025, 2 - 3 p.m., by phone at 815-509-5479

The Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP) will be at the Roscoe Police Department on May 14, 2025 to determine if the Roscoe Police Department should receive the organization’s Tier level 1 reaccreditation.
Agency personnel, elected officials, and members of the community are invited to offer comments during a public information call-in session on May 14th, between the hours of 2 - 3 p.m. at 815-509-5479. Telephone comments are limited to five minutes and must address the department’s ability to meet the ILEAP accreditation standards.
Joel Givens, ILEAP Coordinator (Ret. Assistant Deputy Chief, Rockford PD), will conduct an on-site assessment of the Roscoe Police Department.
The police department will be judged based on 69 separate ILEAP standards regarding administration, operations, personnel, and training. The department has been revising its policies and procedures in order to meet the standards set by ILEAP. In order to complete the accreditation process, the policies and procedures must not only reflect the standards set by ILEAP, but all files developed must demonstrate and provide validation that the department is following all mandated ILEAP policies and procedures.
Accreditation will demonstrate the agency has achieved a level of professionalism among our law enforcement peers and validates the methods of service our members provide to the community in which they serve. In addition to improving our relationship with the citizens and organizations of the Roscoe community, accreditation improves accountability while limiting risk exposure.
