Donna Johnson loved travel, enjoyed many hobbies
She adored taking their grandkids on cross-country trips in their motorhome.
Donna Elizabeth Hunt Johnson returned home to the arms of our Father in Heaven on Friday, December 27, 2024 in Rockton, Illinois. The 81-year-old was surrounded by her loving family.
Donna was talented and adventurous in many areas of her life. Born December 19, 1943 in West Virginia, Donna grew up and pursued college. That’s where she met her husband, Bill. The two married in their early twenties. In those years, Donna discovered her love of travel, as the young couple relocated around the northeast for career opportunities. The pair eventually settled in Illinois, where they raised two kids, Misty and Bill III.
Later in life, Donna enjoyed many hobbies. She was a master of quilting and sewing, and she played a fierce game of dominos with her friends. Above all, though, Donna cherished time with her grandchildren, Zoe and Dominic. She fostered their talents, and introduced them to her passion for travel. Donna and her husband adored taking their grandkids on cross-country trips in their motorhome. Not a day went by where Donna didn’t talk about how much her children and grandchildren meant to her. Her family was arguably her most important achievement in life.
Time spent with Donna was never enough. Those of us blessed to have known her understand the deep imprint she leaves on our hearts. It will forever exceed the number of years we spent here with her.
Donna is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years; William Johnson Jr., children; Misty Johnson Chipalla and William (Fiona) Johnson III, grandkids; Zoe and Dominic Chipalla, loved ones; David Chipalla, Darrin Sisk, siblings; Joyce Hunt Faulds, Lois Hunt Januszki, James Hunt, and David Hunt, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents; Lowell (Ruby Monk) Hunt.
