Richard Brown owned Rockford Mercantile Agency
Richard’s family will celebrate his life at Hidden Waters Golf Course in Waupaca, WI.
Richard "Dick" Lyle Brown, 79, of Roscoe, IL, was owner-operator of Rockford Mercantile Agency from January 1992 until he retired in October 2021, where he was blessed with many long-term employees. Richard married the love of his life, Rebecca Lee Zang, on April 24, 1976 at First Methodist Church in Mishawaka, IN.
He passed away November 10, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born February 7, 1943, in Waupaca, WI, the son of Lula and Merle Brown. He graduated from Waupaca High School in 1961 where he played football, basketball and baseball. He received a basketball scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Richard enjoyed golfing, trips to the casino, the Green Bay Packers, a sweet treat and always held a special place in his heart for his three dogs Max, Holly and Daisy. What he truly loved were the times spent with his family including his many brothers and sisters (and their spouses too). Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.
Richard was extremely loved by his wife of 46 years, Rebecca Brown of Roscoe; five sons, Jem Brown of Wisconsin Rapids, Bret Brown of Rockford, Eric Brown of Roscoe, Jared (Jessica) Brown of Mukwonago, Owen Brown of St. Augustine; eleven grandchildren, Maddy (Daley) Brown Miller, Sophie (Mark) Cooney, Keith Brown, Amber (Bob) Ritter, Jeremy Brown, Kylee Brown, Maura Brown, Bennett Brown, Avaya Brown, Tenley Brown and Tatum Brown; and great-grandson Jayden Ritter.
A family celebration of Richard’s life is being held at Hidden Waters Golf Course in Waupaca, WI on December 2, 2022.
