With sadness, we announce the following deaths for Rockton, Roscoe, and South Beloit in recent weeks:

Mar. 13, 2026:
James Campobello, 96, Roscoe
A Korean War veteran with a bachelor's degree in floriculture, he worked at Sundstrand and served at Bethesda Covenant Church, Men’s Garden Club of Rockford, Moose Club, Northern Illinois Botanical Society, and Klehm Arboretum.

Mar. 16, 2026:
Beverly Bergdorf, 90, Roscoe
She was mom to four girls and worked at Rockford Christian School until she retired and traveled with her husband and dog. She was a wonderful seamstress, making clothing for her children, then quilts, tapestries, door hangers and her famous embroidered tea towels which she made as gifts.

Mar. 17, 2026:
Samuel Thiering, 64, South Beloit
He worked as an automotive and heavy equipment mechanic, but his true passion was racing. A familiar name at the Rockford Speedway, he won multiple championships, including many in Figure 8 racing. In recent years, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and watching them grow.

Kimberly K. Hatfield, 62, South Beloit
She began her career as a computer programmer, then went on to teach math at Willowbrook Middle School, where she was a Poms coach and an advisor for Quiz Bowl and Math Team.

Mar. 18, 2026:
Steven P. Clausen, 68, Loves Park
He proudly served in the US Navy for 20 years. After retiring he worked for 15 years in the Rockton area as a school bus driver and dispatcher.

Mar. 19, 2026:
James G. Leach, 73, Roscoe
He built a respected career as a heavy-duty diesel technician. He moved to Roscoe in 1988. An avid fisherman, he loved spending time by the stream at Hononegah Forest Preserve.

Mar. 20, 2026:
Mary E. Schewe, 80, Roscoe
A retired bookkeeper, she lived a life of service to her family and community. She was married to her farmer husband for 48 years.
