Betty Larson enjoyed cleaning homes
Funeral and visitation was Thursday morning May 4, 2023.
Betty "Miss Betty" Lou Larson, 87, of Rockton, Illinois passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Rockford, Illinois on April 20, 1936 to Celeste (Field) and Earl Eugene Mallicoat. She graduated from Hononegah High School in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart Richard Larson on September 11, 1954 in Roscoe, Illinois.
Betty was employed as a secretary at Sundstrand and Peabody Welles of Roscoe. After her retirement, Betty enjoyed cleaning homes, a job which she did not consider a job, and painting homes. Betty also loved cardinals and watching Hallmark movies while eating her sweets.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her children, Ron (Becky) Larson, Sue (Jeff) Green, Pam (Steve Danekas) Wallace; grandchildren, Tifany (Gene) Murath, Ashley (Nate) Andrews, Casey Larson, Brandon (Lindsey) Green, Alli Wallace, Tyler Wallace, Taylor Wallace; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Kay Standard, Jeanie (Dick) Truman, Tom (Margaret) Mallicoat; brother-in-law, Howard Harshbarger, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and sisters Dorothy Malone and Gerrie Harshbarger.
Funeral service were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023 in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park with a visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Private family burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Betty's name to the Rockton Fire Department. The family would like to extend a special thanks to OSF Hospice for their kindness and comfort given to our mom.
