Rockton firefighters found a 15 x 30 barn "fully involved"(completely aflame) when they arrived shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024 at the 2800 block of Yale Bridge Road, west of South Beloit, in the area of Ox Berry Farm. The barn was a total loss, but they quickly brought the fire under control before it could spread to any other buildings.

Automatic assistance at the scene came from Harlem-Roscoe, North Park, and Loves Park Fire Departments, while Northwest Fire Department staffed the Rockton fire station. No one was injured and no animals were lost. The cause of the fire currently remains under investigation.

Chief Wilson would like to thank our Rockton Firefighters and automatic aid personnel for an outstanding job extinguishing this fire. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed.
