Access Soul celebrates grand opening with ribbon-cutting in Roscoe
ROSCOE New Roscoe business Access Soul celebrate their grand opening on Saturday December 6th.

Access Soul, a new meditation and sound healing studio in Roscoe, officially opened its doors on Saturday, Dec. 6, with a ribbon-cutting. Village President Carol Gustafson, Roscoe trustees, and several community members attended the event.

The studio, located at 11824 Main St., is run by Kelly “Kelly Joy” and Jim Simmons, long-time Roscoe residents who have offered sound healing and meditation from their home for about 15 years. Kelly said opening a dedicated space gives people a calm spot to land. “I just want people to come with an open mind and an open heart,” she said. “They’re going to feel welcomed and safe and loved and accepted.”

Jim said the public studio is an extension of what they’ve already been doing for friends and neighbors. “We just like sharing good things with the people around us,” he said. “We’ve been doing this a long time, and it felt right to bring it out into the community.”

Kelly and Jim give the audience a sound demonstration during the grand opening event.

Inside the softly lit rooms, guests listened as the crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, gong, flute, and chimes filled the space with sound.

Jim explained that the sessions are meant to help people settle physically and mentally. “We want people to get to a place where their body isn’t tense,” he said. “Then they can just listen to their own inner voice.”

Sound healing has grown more familiar to people in recent years, but Kelly and Jim have been introducing it locally long before it became widely known. “We had only singing bowls in the beginning, and no one around here knew what they were,” Kelly said in the studio’s announcement. “Now you can buy a singing bowl at Walmart, but many people still don’t know about sound healing. We want to offer this regularly so folks can feel for themselves how deeply relaxing and transformative it is.”

Kelly added that sound vibrations may help reduce stress, ease pain, and support the body’s natural healing response. “Science backs this up, and the results people have speak for themselves,” she said. “People really can access their inner peace. It’s there — it’s just buried.”

The studio will also hold weekly meditation gatherings on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at noon. Both sessions are donation-based with a suggested amount of ten dollars. Being able to find our inner peace is so important right now,” Kelly said. “It has a ripple effect, and we need that now more than ever.”

After the ribbon cutting, guests walked through the space, spoke with staff, asked questions, and took time to explore the new studio. Demonstrations were held throughout the day so visitors could experience a sound session firsthand.

Jim said he hopes Access Soul becomes a place where people feel comfortable being themselves. “People can be whoever they are, and they’re welcome to come,” he said. “A lot of friendships form when people are just being vulnerable and sharing discussions they feel safe having.”

Kelly hopes the studio becomes a peaceful spot for the community. “Being able to find our inner peace is so important right now,” she said. “It has a ripple effect, and we need that now more than ever.”
