Workshops begin process of bringing changes to Roscoe
Business owners are pinpointing what would make Roscoe a great place to live and work and what strategies and developments would draw businesses and families to the community.

A group of over 30 Roscoe business owners got together at the Village Hall on April 16, 2025, to begin the first step in the process of transforming Roscoe.
Village President Carol Gustafson greeted the participants with a challenge - “it begins with you.”
The workshop was conducted by David Sidney, CEO and founder of Place Foundry.
Place Foundry specializes in partnering with businesses and public organizations in creating and developing transformative and exceptional developments that enrich communities. Their job is to act as coach.
The goal of the new Business District Alliance is to promote, and enhance Roscoe, beginning with the Main Street corridor. Sidney tasked the business owners to pinpoint what would help make Roscoe a great place to live and work, what strategies and developments would draw businesses and families to the community. He asked what each participant would be willing to do to move the process forward. The question was answered with dozens of ideas and enthusiastic support for the project.

Trustee Michael Wright introduced James Packard Sr, who lives in Roscoe. The two have been meeting frequently during the last two years to talk about what is involved in creating a vibrant appealing community.
Packard is a retired executive and area philanthropist. He has been a leader in making Beloit 2000 a success.
Packard said, after talking to Mike (Wright), he got enthused about how to draw people to the community. “First you need to file for a 501(c)(3),” he said. “This project needs to be separate from government. I would really like to see it grow. It will be a challenge.” He encouraged the group to “stay enthused. Make it happen.”
Participants agreed that the fresh ideas exchanged would enhance and promote Roscoe as a safe, inviting community of fine businesses, schools, and churches.
