Willliam (Bill) Butterworth was born August 14, 1948 in Rockford, Illinois, to Bob and Imogene Butterworth. He attended grade school in Rockford before his family moved to the Roscoe area, where he attended Roscoe Middle School and graduated from Hononegah Community High School in Rockton.

Bill was the owner of B & B Woodworking in Rockton, Illinois. Bill passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, after a long illness. He was 77 years old.

Bill earned his woodworking apprenticeship through Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois. He built cabinets and did general carpentry work.

He married Susan (Baker) in 1983. They made their home in Rockton. "Bill made several pieces of furniture for our home, and helped friends and neighbors with carpentry projects," Susan said. "He loved to talk to people and help them build and repair furniture."

Bill was a member of a local motorcycle club. He and Susan were also members of a couples club. He enjoyed hunting in northern Wisconsin. Bill and Susan loved to travel, especially to Devil's Lake in Wisconsin. "We enjoyed each other's company. He was my best friend as well as my husband."

Bill is survived by his wife, Susan, sons Bill and Mark, daughters Deanna and Darcy, grandchildren Vadrian and Jesse, nieces Christina and Kathy, nephews Michael and Bradley. He is predeceased by his brother, Robert and sister-in-law Arden.

Services will be held at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Loves Park, Illinois, at a later date.
