Whitman Post Elementary School is preparing to welcome families for one of its most vibrant and community‑centered events of the year. Cultural Night, a celebration of the diverse traditions represented within the school community, will take place Wednesday, October 21 from 5:00–7:00 p.m., offering free admission and an evening filled with food, performances, and hands‑on activities.

The event showcases the school’s commitment to cultural appreciation and global learning. Students, families, and staff will come together to explore traditions from around the world through music, dance, art, storytelling, cultural displays, and world‑fair style booths. One of the highlights of the evening will be a live performance by Ballet Folklorico, bringing authentic movement and color to the celebration.

Rockton School District Hosts First Annual Cultural Night
Rockton School District Superintendent Dan Phelps stated how pleased he was that they could, “shine light on the diversity and different cultures in the Rockton and Roscoe communities”.

Food is set to be a major attraction, with a lineup of local favorites including Mark’s Pizza, Jalisco’s Rayo, The Olive Branch, and Cantina Taco. The variety of cuisines gives families a chance to enjoy flavors from different cultures while supporting community businesses.

In addition to performances and food trucks, Cultural Night will feature kids’ activities, interactive displays, and opportunities for students to share their heritage with classmates. The event’s colorful promotional materials reflect its spirit of unity — a globe surrounded by multicolored figures holding hands, symbolizing the school’s dedication to celebrating every culture represented in its halls.

Cultural Night has become a beloved tradition at Whitman Post, offering families a chance to learn, connect, and celebrate together. With free admission and a wide range of activities, organizers expect a strong turnout from across the Roscoe community.

Remember to tell them you “Saw it in the Rockton-Roscoe News.”
