What’s a little cold weather to these egg hunters?

Nora found a golden egg at the Mariner Girl Scouts annual egg hunt.  The egg hunt was held at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church at 7404 Elevator Rd. in Roscoe. The Mariners have been hosting the egg hunt for the last 26 years.

The grounds of  Cross and Crown Lutheran Church were littered with plastic eggs of every color, including a number of gold and silver eggs during the 26th annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by Roscoe's Mariner Girl Scout Troop under the leadership of Louise Glon.

Last year, the egg hunt was cancelled due to the pandemic.  Not to be deterred, the girls came up with a new plan and held a Robin’s Egg Hunt last spring instead.

Children and parents fought blustery winds as they searched for (semi) hidden treasures throughout the April 16 pre-Easter hunt.

The Mariners' game works a little different from usual egg hunts: parents can purchase as many numbered tickets as they want for $2.00 each. The task is to search the church grounds for eggs that have the same number.

After the children turned in their baskets of eggs, everyone was awarded a prize. Special prizes went to those lucky egg-hunters that found the prized gold and silver eggs.

Zoe and her little brother Matthew filled their Easter baskets with plastic eggs during the egg hunt at Cross and Crown Church, April 16.
