KNIB Mud Volleyball - Sat Aug 5 8:00 am

Historic Downtown Rockton Walking Tour: Part I - Sat Aug 5, 10:00 am

Interested in learning more about unique Rockton architecture? Join the Village's Historic Preservation Commission in the first of a three-part series of historic architecture in downtown Rockton. Those interested should meet at Settlers Park on the path along Blackhawk Blvd. near the cottonwood trees (look for the sandwich board sign on the path). The tour will last approximately one hour, plenty of time for you to return to catch the band's performance at the Rockton River Market. The second and third walking tours will occur on Saturday, Aug. 26, and Saturday, September 16. [more details]

12 - 4 p.m. The 60th annual Rockton American Legion Post #332 Rifle Squad Corn Boil is coming back to the American Center, (American Legion) on Sunday, Aug. 6. Catch up with friends as you enjoy all-you-can-eat sweet corn, brats, or a pork chop sandwich plus side dishes. The event starts at noon and runs until around 4 p.m. The cost is $10 per adult, and $6 for children ages 6-12, under five years of age are free. [more details]

1 - 4 p.m. VanDwellers officially formed in 2020, but the two brothers who make up the band--Tyler and Tanner Burt--have been playing music together throughout all of their lives. As children, they grew up in a very musical household constantly making music with their parents and other siblings. Their parents performed for weddings as a duo when they were younger, and overall were involved in many forms of music throughout most of their own lives. [more details]

9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Volunteer tasks include control and removal of bush honeysuckle and garlic mustard or other invasive species, planting/collecting seeds, helping in the greenhouse, planting plugs, general maintenance, bird and mammal monitoring, prescribed burns, and set-up for special events. This week’s musical artist for the Rockton River Market is The Rocksurfers, playing classic rock & roll and authentic surf music. The Rockton River Market takes place every Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Settlers Park, 150 Hawick Street in Rockton. Music starts at 6:00 p.m. The Rock Surfers call themselves a straight ahead rock 'n' roll band from Rockford: John Copeland on lead guitar and vocals, Dave DeFay on drums, Steve Lee on bass guitar/vocals and Tracy Smith on lead vocals. 6:30-8:00 p.m. For current and new volunteers - anyone interested in learning about MLH volunteer opportunities. We will be serving ice cream at the meeting. All ages are welcome! Volunteers are needed for Docents, support staff for Education Days, Special Events, Maintenance, Sewing, Greeters, Fundraising, Interpreters for Special Events, and many more miscellaneous tasks.
