What Rockton officials will be discussing in the weeks ahead
Rockton leaders have a busy stretch ahead, with multiple meetings scheduled to address redevelopment plans, budget changes, and a proposed multi-use path along Old River Road.
Several Rockton meetings are scheduled over the next two weeks, including committee meetings Monday, Feb. 16; the Budget and Finance Committee Tuesday, Feb. 17; the Village Board meeting Tuesday, Feb. 17; and a public information meeting Wednesday, Feb. 25 regarding a proposed Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program project.
Administration Committee
The Rockton Administration Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16 at Village Hall, 110 E. Main St.
Among the items on the agenda is a proposed redevelopment agreement with Caliber One Holdings, LLC.
Public Works Committee
The Public Works Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Village Hall.
The committee will receive updates from the village engineer and discuss 2026 season pool fees.
Purchase requests on the agenda include $3,062.04 to Lowe’s for a landscape or flower box at Thunder Rock Prairie and $4,855 for Peak Soft Systems for parks and recreation management software.
Trustees will also review a special events application for the Rockton May Day Faerie Festival, proposed for May 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Settlers Park.
An ordinance to vacate a public right-of-way within the village is also listed.
Budget and Finance Committee
The Budget and Finance Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Village Hall.
Trustees will review a proposed ordinance providing supplemental appropriations for the fiscal year beginning June 1, 2025.
Village Board of Trustees
The Rockton Village Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Village Hall.
The board is scheduled to consider reappointing Tricia Davey to the Historic Preservation Commission for a five-year term.
Other items expected before the board include the proposed redevelopment agreement with Caliber One Holdings; supplemental appropriations; 2026 season pool fees; the May Day Faerie Festival application; and an ordinance to vacate a public right-of-way.
Possible action to approve a real estate contract for the purchase and sale of the property at 58 W. Rockton Road, commonly known as the former Goldie Floberg Center.
ITEP public information meeting
Separately, the village will host a public information meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Village Hall regarding a proposed multi-use path project under the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program.
The proposed path would run along E. River Street, S. Ferry Street, Old River Road and University Parkway, from Illinois 75 to the entrance of the Stephen Mack Middle School parking lot.
The meeting will follow an open house format from 7 to 8 p.m. with no formal presentation.
