What to know about South Beloit city council candidate Courtney Prentice
Courtney Prentice (R) with his wife Jennifer

Courtney Prentice is a real estate appraiser, managing the Rockford and Beloit offices of Rally Appraisal. Married for 21 years, he and his wife Jennifer have a son in college and a daughter in high school. In June 2022, Prentice interviewed and was appointed to fill a vacancy on the  South Beloit City Council as a Commissioner of Public Properties.

Prentice  says, "In my short tenure on the Council, I feel the Council and the community have both seen my strengths whether it be from my real estate background or my being involved in the school board for eight years."

"I hope to help South Beloit remember its past while guiding its future. South Beloit has so much to be proud of with lots of potential moving forward."

Asked what changes are still needed in the City, Prentice said, "South Beloit went through some financial struggles several years ago and tough choices were made that resulted in significant cuts and reduced resources. It has been climbing out of this hole and has good upward momentum. I want to help guide this progress and steer its future for success."

"Due to the many cuts from those difficult financial years, South Beloit is behind on some infrastructure and improvements. The City has a delicate balancing act of prioritizing and rebuilding these lost resources while remaining fiscally responsible to its citizens."

Prentice is running for City Council because he believes he has the tools and background to help guide South Beloit. "I strongly urge people to get involved, as we are one community with the common goal to make South Beloit be the best it can be. The first step is voting on April 4th in your local election."
