Hononegah runs past Boylan Catholic 67-38

On Wednesday, February 19th, 2025, Hononegah outscored Boylan Catholic 67-38, making twenty wins for the 2024-2025 Indians boys basketball team.

The Indians ran past, dunked on, and outshot the Boylan Catholic Titans.

Led by leading scorer and senior Brayden Olson’s 23 points, they broke open a close opening quarter into a dominant finish to the regular season with a 29-point final margin.  It was the 20th win of the season with just 10 losses. Quite an accomplishment for a team replacing a ton off of last year's squad, which had a nice two-game postseason run that included knocking off NIC 10 champion Rockford Guilford.

Wednesday’s regular-season finale allowed Hononegah to get most of the bench into the game, with freshman Jack McLarty getting a good run in the 4th quarter for the first time this season, from what my numbers tell me. The young player has been on the JV team most of the season and has handled himself like a veteran. He looks to be a player on the hardwood for Hononegah in the coming seasons. 

The next game for the Hononegah Boys team is a regional semifinal against Rockford Auburn on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from Harlem High School. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm. 

Hononegah and Rockford Auburn split the season series, each winning on their home courts. 

The March Madness IHSA tournament will get underway on Monday, February 24th, 2025, across Illinois.
