Thursday night, January 18, 2024 saw another round of snow and wind outside. However, inside the Boylan Catholic gym, it was hot, loud, and bright with  lots of energy. It was the 2024 NIC 10 competitive cheer competition. The Hononegah Indians JV and Varsity squads competed against its conference foes.

Athletes combined dance, rhythm, energy, and athletic skills on the mats. Hononegah took second place in the JV division and had some musical tech issues while the varsity squad performed.

Belvidere North took home both the JV and Varsity titles with excellent routines.

I must say I haven’t attended many cheerleading events over my lifetime. However, I would invite you to attend one for yourself or stick around and catch one during any of the number of Hononegah sporting events. These talented performers jump, fly, spin, and cheer with everything they have.

Thank you to Coach Dana Fincham and her staff for having the team compete at such a high level.

Next up for Hononegah: Huntley on Sunday. Good luck, Indians!
