Village of Roscoe orders equipment now, since the wait may be two years
The board authorized snow plows, police vehicles, and a land donation.
The Roscoe Village Board meeting followed the Liquor Commission meeting, on Oct. 5, 2021.
The Board designated permanent, alternative Halloween trick or treat hours. Beginning this year, trick or treating will always be held 4:00– 7:00 p.m. the last Saturday in October.
Trustees authorized several purchases for both the Police Department and the Public Works Department. Since the Village is facing long delivery time, sometimes one to two years, the staff agreed that ordering needed equipment now will save the Village money.
Trustees authorized the purchase of two new sets of hydraulics and heavy duty 42- inch snow plows on the Ford F750 vehicle for use by the Village Public Works Department for the quoted amount of $25,377.64.
They also authorized the purchase of four Ford Police Interceptor vehicles under the Village Master Lease Agreement with Enterprise Fleet M. Management Inc. The cost is $52,000 per vehicle.
Police Chief Evans said the sedans still in use would be rotated out of service over time.
The Board approved the acceptance of a donation from Hononegah Youth Soccer Association of the property at 9108 McDonald Rd, Roscoe, adjacent to Porter Park. As we reported in June, the property could be used as a dog park, splash pad, or to extend the disc golf course at Porter Park. The donated land contains a box culvert and could someday be part of an extension of Willowbrook Road to Perryville Road.
Trustee Anthony Keene was selected to represent the Village as a board member of the Northern Illinois Land Bank Authority. When overdue taxes keep a property from being sold on the private market, the land bank can acquire it in court, then clear the title and find a qualified buyer.
The Committee of the Whole meeting followed.
Trustees discussed and recommended approval of five Toughbook Computers and docking station for the Police Department at a cost of $16,830.00.
Trustees recommended the purchase of four Starcom radios for the Roscoe Police Department for the amount of $21,287.00.
Trustees discussed and recommended the purchase of a Kyocera 3554ci full color copier printer for the quoted price of $5,495.00.
They discussed approving the purchase of a new Chevy Silverado 5500 dump body for the Parks Department, and purchasing a 348 International Tandem.
Trustees approved a special event permit for the use of Leland Park for an Oct. 23 run to benefit Annie’s Locker, which provides fitness gear and scholarships to people in need. For example, they have fitted over 2,600 Rockford Public School children with sneakers so they can participate in gym class.
The Committee of the Whole consists of all the Village trustees, where they give initial consideration to issues for final action at the next General meeting, which will be held Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. followed by another Committee of the Whole meeting.
