Vicky (Robare) Cooling loved black coffee, books, and antiques

Vicky L. (Robare) Cooling, 73, of Roscoe, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025. She was born September 17, 1951, in Rockford, the daughter of Fred and Christena (Trussoni) Robare. Vicky attended Kinnikinick School and Hononegah High School, graduating in 1969. She graduated from college in Madison, WI and later worked in the Rockford School District. Vicky married Peter James Cooling on October 6, 1973, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Vicky loved black coffee, reading books, and antiques, and developed an eye for a well-loved piece. She bought and resold many antiques and jewelry, not to mention decorated her own home, while working alongside Peter as part of the management of Cooling Lawn Sprinklers and Cooling Rental Properties.

Survivors include her daughter, Tina (Adam) Gilman; son, Anthony (Danielle) Cooling; four grandsons, Lucas, Isaac, Aiden and Rowyn, whom she took special pride and joy in. Also survived by her siblings, Char (John) Hager, Ron Robare, Jackie (Mike) Fiese, Pam (Dave) Sockness, Michelle Robare, Deb (Curtis) Robare, Rick Robare, Shawn (Kim) Robare, Nichole (Cliff) Morris, Bridget (Dan) Balsley, Jeffrey Robare and Joel Robare, and innumerable beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and brother, Lawrence Robare.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St., Rockford, IL 61103, with Fr. Kenneth J. Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held August 2, 2025, at the Cathedral from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
