VFW Post 11019 in South Beloit hosted a successful Veterans Information Session, bringing together veterans, families, service organizations, and community partners for an evening focused on education, assistance, and connection.

The event provided veterans and their families with direct access to organizations that serve those who have worn the uniform. Presenters included the VFW Foundation, Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans Assistance Commission, and the Veteran Leadership Team. Each organization shared information about available benefits, programs, and services designed to support veterans and their families.

Following the presentations, veterans had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Veterans Service Officers and representatives from participating organizations. Attendees were able to ask individual questions, receive guidance, and begin conversations about benefits, claims, and other veteran-related services. Applications for membership in veteran service organizations were also taken during the event.

VFW Post 11019 Commander Tom Dummer thanked the presenters, volunteers, and attendees for helping make the session a success. He also invited veterans who are not currently involved with a veteran service organization to consider joining and taking part in the work being done locally to serve fellow veterans.

The South Beloit event built on a previous Veterans Information Session held in September. After speaking with members of leadership, organizers believe this type of event could be a strong model for other posts and veteran organizations. Several members of VFW Post 11019 said they would be glad to support similar events at other posts in order to help reach more veterans and their families.

The evening served as a reminder of the importance of connecting veterans with the resources they have earned and the people who can help guide them through the process. VFW Post 11019 remains committed to serving veterans, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting those who served.

"Each day is an opportunity to make a positive impact on someone's life."
