Update: Heavy Police Presence in Roscoe Leads to Additional Charges
Two police vehicles were damaged during the incident.
Additional details have been released following Thursday evening's heavy police presence near the intersection of Illinois Route 251 and Elevator Road.
The Rockton-Roscoe News spoke with Village of Roscoe Deputy Chief Tom Farone earlier today, who said officers were alerted to a subject with an outstanding warrant traveling northbound on Route 251. Officers located and stopped the individual near the intersection of Route 251 and Elevator Road, where the suspect was taken into custody.
According to Farone, two police vehicles were damaged during the incident, and several officers sustained minor injuries. Medical personnel responded to the scene and evaluated the officers, which is standard procedure during incidents like Thursday's.
Authorities have since confirmed the suspect is expected to face additional charges, including counts of Aggravated Use of a Deadly Weapon and Reckless Driving, along with other pending charges related to the incident.
Farone also noted that the additional law enforcement presence observed by residents was a result of standard mutual aid and officer-safety protocols. When needed, neighboring agencies routinely provide assistance and support to ensure incidents are handled safely and effectively.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
