Rockton trustees to consider zoning change for former Goldie Floberg property Monday

Rockton village trustees will meet Monday night to consider a zoning change for the former Goldie Floberg property on West Rockton Road and a proposal for a self-storage facility on Adams Street.

The Village Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Rockton Village Hall. Committee meetings are scheduled earlier in the evening.

Trustees are scheduled to consider a zoning map amendment for property at 58 W. Rockton Road, the former Goldie Floberg property. The request would change the designation from single-family residential to a multi-family residential district.

The Goldie Floberg organization donated the property to the Village of Rockton in 2023 after relocating its administrative offices to Rockford.

The board will also consider a special use permit for a proposed 32-unit self-storage facility at 408 Adams St.

The Administration Committee will meet at 5 p.m., the Public Works Committee at 5:30 p.m., and the Budget and Finance Committee at 6:30 p.m., all at Rockton Village Hall.

Committee discussions will include the village’s organizational chart, a Thunder Rock Prairie project proposal, a trash container issue involving Fib’s Restaurant, and a road reconstruction project near 231 E. River St.

Roscoe trustees to listen to a housing proposal and discuss Bridge Street lot issues on Wednesday

A possible new housing development, a downtown shop proposal, and continued discussion about the Bridge Street parking lot are among the items on Roscoe’s agenda Wednesday night.

The Village Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Village Hall, 10631 Main St. The Committee of the Whole is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. at the same location.

During the Committee of the Whole meeting, trustees will hear a presentation from Capo Construction LLC on a prospective residential development. No action is requested on that item.

Trustees will discuss a zoning map amendment [PDF] for 10774 Main Street. The applicants plan to open an artisan shop that would offer retail sales, classes and, on occasion, host a food truck.

Discussion about the Bridge Street parking lot, including sun shade design changes, installation plans and an anticipated completion timeline. The Committee of the Whole agenda also includes discussion of a proposed settlement agreement related to parking lot repairs.

On the Village Board agenda, trustees will consider a special event permit for Mary’s Market Cruise Nights and car shows, planned for the fourth Tuesday of each month from May through September at Mary’s Market on Bluestem Road.

Trustees are also set to consider a special event permit for the Rock Valley Radio Control Plane Flying Event, planned for May 30 at Chicory Ridge Park, and bid specifications for the village’s 2026 residential road repair and maintenance improvement program.
