Hononegah hosts the undefeated Blue Thunder from Kelsey Field Friday night.

Crazy to think about it but we are entering week 8 of the 2025 Hononegah Football season. The Indians sit in fourth place in the top heavy NIC 10 conference. With a record of 5-2 the Indians take on the top Dawgs in the conference, undefeated Belvidere North 7-0.

The Blue Thunder bring talent and weapons across the board and at every phase of the game. On offense they bring the only triple option attack in the NIC 10. On defense they have the best scoring defense only having allowed 60 points on the season. For perspective the Hononegah Indians scored 63 in the week 7 win over Boylan last Friday night.

With the offense getting healthier and the play of senior quarterback Drew Shockley getting more steady the offense is in the best spot they have been all season long. Having scored a season high 63 points last Friday. Getting over 400 yards on the ground and making sure Boylan knew who came to play last Friday night.

The 3 keys to a victory or a good showing:

1-ELIMATE turnovers. This week the coaches and players understand the value of keeping the ball so they can get points on the scoreboard without making it easy for the Blue Thunder.

2-LIMIT explosive plays from the ground and running games of Belvidere North. Blue Thunder have a knack for finding a crack in a defense and taking it to the house. They only need six inches and they will take it to the house. As most high level football people say -SPEED KILLS.

3-Finally, a huge key for Hononegah is to keep the drives moving by CONVERTING on 3rd downs. Which starts by not putting yourself the down and distance. Anything longer then 2nd and 6 will make it tougher then it needs to be for Hononegah.

I expect a great effort from the Indians as this is the last Home Game for all the seniors unless they get a home IHSA playoff game.

Kickoff us the JV team goes long is set for 7 pm.
